Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is a very unusual and interesting hotel consisting of various types of construction. The materials used for finishes appear to be items which could be found in the jungles of Africa such as; thatched roofs, hand carved timber columns, rugged handmade furnishings and artifacts.
Sunbelt Metals & Mfg, Inc. crafted and installed most of the metal work in the restaurant areas. Brass, bronze, copper, carbon steel and other metal alloys were used in the construction of the "Monumental Stairway, cooking hoods, facings of counter work, ornamental gates, decorative wall panels and various other items. All metals were aged by using various chemical processes and hammering with tools built especially for this project. Heat was also used in the aging process to produce a multitude of intermingled colors.
